On-Call Support Staff

FSLA Classification: Non-Exempt
FTE: On-call

Purpose of Position: Support the mission of Sponsors by assisting individuals released from Oregon state correctional facilities and the Lane County Adult Corrections in making a successful re-entry into our community.  Sponsors is nationally recognized as a model utilizing best practices in re-entry services.

Reports to: This position reports directly to the Program Director

Supervisory Responsibilities: No staff supervisory responsibilities

Primary Objective: Campus and participant safety and operational maintenance tasks

Responsibilities:

Work independently as part of a larger team to actively participate in the coordination of program operations
• Monitor common areas to ensure the safety, security, and cleanliness of the facility.
• Conduct scheduled urinalysis (UA) tests and random UAs as circumstances may require.
• Receive and route calls, faxes, and walk-in program visitors.
• Ensure any relevant information is documented and communicated directly to case management staff and/or the program director as appropriate.
• Tidy offices and empty waste/recycling receptacles nightly.
• Ensure mail has been sorted, date-marked as necessary, and delivered.

Provide direct services to program participants
• Regularly interact with each program participant in a professional manner, modeling appropriate boundaries and respect for all participants and staff.
• Direct any participant questions about rules to case management staff.
• Provide support and assistance to participants as needed, and in collaboration with case management staff.

Ensure the safety and security of the Transitional Housing Program throughout the overnight shift
• Walk the property at least three times per night, ensuring all exterior doors are locked and noting any activity that is out of the ordinary on the property or in the adjacent parking lot. Report any suspicious activity to the appropriate authorities.
• Conduct participant room checks at random three times each night.
• Monitor visitors to the program; ensure their visits are restricted to the appropriate hours/spaces and that their behavior is appropriate at all times.

Other Duties as Assigned

Skills and Knowledge:
• Ability to work independently with little supervision
• Will work nights/weekends and holidays
• Knowledge of general safety procedures
• Dependable and responsive to available on-call hours
• Preferred experience in a social advocacy role

Education and Experience: Entry level

Work Environment: Requires overnight facility oversight and participant interactions   

Physical Demands: Ability to carry up to 25 lbs. up and down stairs
